Colin Munro To Lead Desert Vipers in ILT20 2023

Colin Munro is appointed as the captain for Desert Vipers in the first edition of the UAE ILT20. Although the vice-captain is yet to be announced, the squad and match fixtures for the franchise are already announced recently. The team consists of popular players like Benny Howell, Tom Curran, and Alex Hales. The Desert Vipers team also appointed Tom Moody as a head coach, and James Foster as a batting coach.

Desert Vipers Appoints Colin Munro as Captain of the Team for ILT20 2023

Colin Munro has been named as a skipper of the team. The franchise is owned by Lancer Capital LLC. The English batsman James Foster is the batting coach of the team. Today, Desert Vipers’ Twitter account posted the picture of Munro with the caption, “Oh Captain, Our Captain.” It further read, “The dashing left-hander will lead Desert Vipers in the Inaugural Edition of ILT20.”

Soon after that, the team Desert Vipers posted a video of Munro. The upcoming captain of the squad stated,

“Hey, guys, Colin Munro here. Very excited to be named the captain of Desert Vipers in the upcoming ILT20. Looking forward to it in a big way.”

He further talked about bringing his years of experience to this opportunity. Munro thanked James Foster and Tom Moody in the video. This was posted on the Desert Vipers’ official Twitter account with the caption, “Munro will bring experience, will bounce ideas, will go a long way.”

Colin Munro is a very experienced T20 format player, normally he opens the innings and has much ability to score quickly in the powerplay overs. He also played in different T20 leagues around the world, like BigBash, Pakistan Super League, IPL, CPL, etc. The New Zealand Batter also owns a record for the highest strike rate in T20 tournaments.


The Desert Vipers team is now more strengthing as they announced Colin Munro as captain of the team for an inaugural season of the UAE International League T20. He is more aware of the UAE conditions and pitches, as he played PSL matches in the UAE. The left-handed New Zealander batsman will show his captaincy skills in the coming matches and the league is set to start on January 13, 2022.
