As the UAE regional selections for the International League T20 are closing, players share their remarks and are excited to play in the first edition of ILT20 2023. In a recent interview, the UAE local players CP Rizwan & Ayaan Khan shared their thoughts on playing with some of the best players of professional Cricket in their team.

The regional players are looking forward to the inaugural season of the UAE T20 league. And are very excited to be part of the Gulf Giants franchise in the DP World ILT20 2023.
CP Rizwan Interview
In a recent interview, UAE’s famous T20 Captain and batsman CP Rizwan, with an impressive track record of scoring 263 runs in 15 T20s, shares his thoughts on playing the inaugural season of ILT20 with the Gulf Giants. He said:
“It’s unbelievable to be a part of a big league like the DP World ILT20 and representing the Gulf Giants. I am looking forward to playing alongside a lot of players, such as Tom Banton, Shimron Hetmyer, Ollie Pope, Chris Lynn, and among others. Hopefully, we’ll be champions this season. The tournament will be a great experience for us, and I’ll try to make the most of the opportunity.”
CP Rizwan re-called his early memories in the Cricket scene and what led him to be now able to play for The Gulf Giants; he stated:
“I started playing Cricket with my family and friends in India. I played district cricket for the first time at the age of 14 in Kerala. Then I played for junior and senior Kerala state teams. After that, I moved to the UAE in 2014 and played domestic Cricket there. And now I am in the Gulf Giants team.”
Aayan Khan Interview
The bowling all-rounder Aayan khan from Oman will also play for the Gulf Giants team. When asked about what he is looking forward to the most in DP World ILT20, he stated:
“Being part of the inaugural ILT20 is a dream come true for me. It means a lot to represent the Gulf Giants. I will look to give my 100 percent and help my team win this season. I am looking forward to playing with Tom Banton. I have played with him in Abu Dhabi T10 as well.”
This All-rounder from Oman has a track record of taking three Wickets in 12 T20s with a total score of 124 runs. Ayaan Khan further shared his career beginnings in the same interview; he said:
“I started Cricket at the age of six. My father wanted me to become a great cricketer. I started practicing at an academy in Sharjah and from thereon, I had a goal to be a good player. I started off as a fast bowler, but my hands are small so my coach asked me to become a spinner.”

CP Rizwan and Ayaan Khan, along with their diverse and impressive lineup of the Gulf Giants, will be facing off against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in their first match of ILT20, slated for January 15, 2023.
