Batting first, Vipers did not get a good start and lost two early wickets. Dangerous Alex Hales scored only 12 and was bowled out by Akif Raja. After two early wickets, captain Colin Munro and Sam Billings held the innings and built 65 runs partnership. At the end of 10 overs, Vipers were on 85 for losing 3 wickets. 180 mark was possible, but an excellent bowling display by debutant Adam Zampa restricted Desert vipers to score only 149 runs. Zampa took 3 wickets and gave away only 16 runs. Both Jake Ball and Fred Klassen took 2 wickets each. From the batting side, Munro, Billings, Tom Curran, and Rutherford scored 40, 25, 21, and 22, respectively.
In the 2nd innings, Desert Vipers did the unexpected and defended 149 on a flat track. So far, batting 2nd has been the move by teams for securing points on the table, but courtesy of brilliant bowling by DTV bowlers, they restricted DC to 137 and won this game by 13 runs. While chasing 150 Dubai Capitals, batters were never comfortable against vipers bowlers and lost wickets early in the powerplay. All of the vipers’ bowlers bowled economically and secured a famous win for the team. Rohan Mustafa was brilliant in the middle and took two crucial wickets. He conceded only 27 runs in 4 overs and took 2 wickets. Powel and Yusuf Pathan built a good partnership from the batting side but could not help the team chase the target.

Adam Zampa was awarded man of the match award for his economical bowling spell. He gave away only 16 runs and took 3 wickets on his international T20 league debut.
