In-form opening pair of MIE Fletcher and Waseem started the proceedings. While on the other side, Drakes and Sanchit Sharma led the bowling attack. Emirates’ top order struggled to get a good start as the first two wickets fell for 27 runs. After that, Waseem and Nicholas Pooran built the 61 runs partnership. Soon after, the Waseem wicket MIE innings could not flow, and the team got out on 139 runs. Chris Jordan bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets for 12 runs. The only notable performances from MIE innings came from Waseem and Pooran.
In the 2nd innings of ILT20 match 24 Tom Banton and James Vince opened the innings for Giants. Both the batters played carefully against Trent Boult and Farooqi and managed to score 35 in the powerplay without loosing wicket. GG lost its first wicket at 61in the form of James Vince. In the close encounter MIE bowlers bowled good tight overs and did’nt allow any of Giants batter to score with pace. At one stage it was looking to be MIE victory but 13 of just 8 balls by Hetmyer and a last ball six when 3 runs were required on the last ball of 20th over helped giants win this match.
