Several Pakistani players are likely to participate in the upcoming second edition of the International League T20 (ILT20) 2024. Recently the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi stated that we have no issue allowing Pakistani cricketers in the world’s richest cricket league by Emirates Cricket Board.
Last year Azam Khan was the only player picked by the Desert Vipers for the inaugural edition of the ILT20 2023, and then released again from the tournament as he did not receive the NOC from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Pakistan Cricket Board to allow players to take part in ILT20
The second edition of the ILT20 2024 is scheduled to start on 13th Jan 2024 and Pakistani players are likely to be in the draft for the second edition of the tournament. A major issue last year was the refusal of ex-PCB Chairman, Ramiz Raja, to grant players an NOC to participate in the league despite being offered captaincy positions by some renowned players. Star cricketers like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan were offered USD 900,000 and captaincy contracts for three years.
PCB Chairman Najam Sethi Staded
Currently, the Pakistan Cricket Board under Najam Sethi has adopted a more moderate stance and will not stand in the way of the players if they are selected for the ILT20 cricket league, considering the long-term cricket relationship with Emirates Cricket Board.
Conclusion
Season 2 of the DP World ILT20 will start on January 13, 2024, and Pakistani players are likely to be in action in the ILT20 tournament, as per media reports Najam Sethi (PCB Chairman) stated that the board has no issue if the players are participating the the cricket league.
