Emirates cricket board is launching their franchise base UAE T20 tournament named International League T20. Khalid Al Zarooni, Chairman of the ILT20 tournament, announced that the league comprises six teams. Furthermore, It will be like any other franchise T20 league in world cricket.
Additionally, the ILT20 Media Rights have been successfully sold, and fans can watch Emirates T20 League from anywhere in the world. The UAE has been the home of international cricket for many years, hosted many major events. However, they have not received the same recognition as other nations due to the performance of their national team.
Fortunately, the UAE Cricket team’s performance has steadily improved over time, and they are on the verge of becoming a good team shortly.
ILT20 League 2023 Announcement
Emirates Cricket Board announced the International League T20 last year in 2022, but because of ICC T20 WorldCup, and other scheduled franchise league tournaments, the cricket board postponed the UAE Premier League to next year. Recently on 6th June, the Emirates Cricket Board announced the ILT20 Schedule, the tournament will start on 13th January and Mid February 2023.
The announcement of the UAE Premier league was lauded in every corner of the world. As well as that, global businesses with stakes in other T20 leagues around the globe have expressed interest in securing franchises to expand their business globally.
United Arab Emirates has recently hosted the Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League, and the ICC T20 World Cup. In contrast, UAE has been home to Pakistan cricket for many years when teams refused to tour Pakistan.
UAE T20 League will have 34 games in the first edition. Each team can have the liberty to play 8-9 foreign cricketers, which will make this tournament a global hit.
