The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have appointed Sunil Narine as captain for the inaugural season of the UAE International League T20 (ILT20). In the IPL, Narine is the eighth-highest wicket-taker with 152 wickets in 147 innings, at an impressive economy rate of 6.63. He has played all his cricket for the Knight Riders franchise since 2012. Now Sunil Narine is to Lead Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in ILT20 2023 addition.
He played 51 international T20 matches for the west indies and made his debut in December 2011. In league cricket, normally, he opens the innings and scores some quick runs in the powerplay overs. Cricket fans know him as a strong spinner bowler as he bowl with a lot of variation in T20 cricket.

The west indies bowling allrounder Sunil Narine will lead the ADKR team for the first edition of UAE ILT20. In the Knight Riders family, Sunil Narine is an experienced player. He also played for other franchises, like for Trinidad and Tobago team in Carribian Premier League, and will now be the skipper of the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders franchise in ILT20 2023.
Narine said in a statement released by the franchise, “It’s a new challenge because now I’m responsible for the entire team instead of only my four overs or game.” It’s something I’m looking forward to. I have grown to love Knight Riders, and Knight Riders have grown to love me, so we’re like a family. I always enjoyed being part of their teams, like in Kolkata Knights Riders in IPL, Trinidad, and Tobago in CPL, and now in the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders team in International League T20.
Since I’ve played a lot of cricket in the UAE, in different leagues (PSL and IPL), I’m familiar with the conditions and the UAE pitches. We have a very good combination of players in our team ADKR, as we played together, and that gives me more confidence, knowing how strong my players are. Several senior players are on the team, so I can bounce ideas off them to pick up a strong XI for the tournament matches.
